About Us

You Be You has helped thousands of Queenslanders become amazing carers for the past 30 years.

We help curious people learn more about foster and kinship care

You Be You is a foster care program that’s supported by Anglicare Southern Queensland. We exist to recruit people to care for Queensland children. We meet and train people like you to improve the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care. We do this to ensure that kids are safe, supported and loved.

Foster carers are ordinary people just like you. Even if you’re not sure if foster caring is for you, get in touch and we’ll help you find out. Because you, just as you are, are exactly what we need.

Experience

We support people like you to make a real difference to the lives of kids in foster care. We have been creating safe and supportive foster care communities for over 30 years.

It's about you

Our team work closely with you to find out how foster caring can fit with your lifestyle. You just need to be yourself and have the passion to make a difference in a child’s life.

We care

Once you register, our staff are with you at every stage of your foster care journey, supporting and connecting you to training and access to wider community groups. We want you to be the best carer you can be.

We're with you every step of the way

It’s a big decision to take on a caring role. If you decide to take the foster care journey, a Foster Care Case Practitioner will be with you every step of the way – recruitment, training, assessment, matching children with families and ongoing support. Whatever the situation or story, our team responds with compassion, creativity, commitment and courage to your needs and the needs of the child in care.

We understand the importance of cultural identity

We believe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children should remain connected to their community. When this isn’t possible, our dedicated cultural support team supports non-indigenous foster carers and staff to better understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in care, and to respond in a holistic way that considers family, spiritual, community and individual needs. The team also engages young people to build a strong sense of identity through culturally appropriate activities.

We listen

We work together to find out what fits best with your lifestyle. You need to have the right balance in your life so you can be a great carer. There are a number of flexible care options available so you can make caring a part of your life, giving a child a safe and stable home so they can be themselves and thrive.
